Community Support Exchange

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about how the Community Support Exchange works? Here are answers to the most common ones.

What is the Community Support Exchange?

It's a community network that connects people who need practical support with volunteers, businesses, faith organizations, and community groups who want to help. It's built on mutual respect — not charity — and focuses on real, practical assistance like transportation, employment connections, goods, skills, and mentoring.

Who is this for?

Anyone impacted by the criminal justice system — people returning home from incarceration, families with loved ones inside, and anyone working to rebuild. It's also for community members, businesses, and organizations who want to offer meaningful support.

Is it free to use?

Yes. All support offered through the exchange is provided at no cost. This is about community, not commerce.

How do I offer support?

Fill out the Offer Support form with your name, what you can provide, and your availability. Our team reviews submissions before listing them publicly to ensure safety and quality.

How do I find or request support?

You can browse the directory of available support, or if you don't find what you need, submit a Request Support form and our team will work to connect you with someone who can help.

Is my information kept private?

We take privacy seriously. Your personal contact information is never displayed publicly without your consent. Support requests are reviewed by our team before being shared with potential supporters, and you choose how much information to share.

What kind of support can I offer or request?

Practical, real-world assistance: transportation, job leads and resume help, clothing and household goods, skills training and mentoring, faith and community connections, legal navigation, counseling referrals, and more. If it helps someone move forward, it belongs here.

How are submissions reviewed?

Every offer and request is reviewed by the Still Standing team before being published or shared. We check for safety, clarity, and alignment with our community guidelines. This helps keep the exchange respectful and trustworthy for everyone.

What if I have a bad experience with someone?

Please contact us immediately. We take all concerns seriously and will investigate and take appropriate action. Your safety and dignity are our top priority.

Can organizations participate?

Absolutely. Businesses, faith organizations, nonprofits, and community groups are all welcome to offer support. We especially value organizations that provide fair-chance employment, reentry services, or community-based support.

Is this only for people in Kentucky?

While Still Standing is based in Kentucky and many offerings focus on the Louisville area and statewide, we welcome support from anywhere. Some services — like mentoring, resume help, and skills training — can be provided remotely.

How is this different from the Reentry Resources page?

The Reentry Resources page lists organizations, hotlines, and programs. The Community Support Exchange is about direct, person-to-person connections — a volunteer offering a ride, a business posting a job lead, a mentor sharing their time. It's community in action.
